Please respond to the poll legitimately, as I (and others) see this game as a real possibility.
So I've posted my tentative plan. I'd like to take 4, 5 folks max, into eve for the first phase, as it will take the most patience as we ramp up the in game organization in preparation for more.
Again, for posterity:
Phase 1 (3-5 people): I'd like to take a few people that are more into the idea of "playing eve" and get them involved. We'll get things started up and begin our humble corp. Learning basics, fulfilling some basic roles. Work out the bugs in corp management and the meta-corp duties. Working in Torrinos.
Phase 2 (10-15 people): Small expansion. People that have moderate interest are welcomed in. We may begin to take a few of the guys out to 0.0 and learning what living life in the void is like. Teach people to scout the EL8 gate and even better, get through the pipe to null sec.
Phase 3 (? people): Continued expansion. Here, we'll hopefully have enough players to move the corp offices into X-7OMU. As this will be a transitory phase, it will be one of the harder ones. We'll begin to take in more (hopefully) hesitant Anvilites. Most of our operations will run out of torrinos as they have been to keep the people joining involved.
Phase 4 (?? people): The long beyond. Plans this far ahead will need to be figured out and will be based upon the success of the previous phases. At this point I'd like to get us in more serious discussion with Maru Ka'ge. I'm already in, and they are open to the idea, we just need to be able to show we're worth the trouble. I can expand on this more if you like. We're judging initial impressions. Phase I guys will also be people that are interested in assuming leadership roles in terms of managing funds, ship purchasing, and training other people in later phases.
I've got a guy working on out of game tools, our own API management system, killboards, etc. If you're interested in helping with that, let me know in this thread. Hopefully it'll be a really nice flash system that helps us keep track of corp assets and player progression/achievements.
Phase I guys will also hopefully be people that have tried it before and quit solely because they didn't have people to play with.
I'm not rushing this at all, Spades/I/others still have a lot of work to do in terms of preperation. Monte was really surprised when I said it may not be the best idea to just go ahead and get started on the "puberty month." It's because I don't want people burned out on it, and we want a good system set up for folks to get through that.
I'm going to be able to babysit small numbers of people really well. If everyone jumps in, I won't have time to manage 20 people right off the bat. There's a lot to learn.
I'm excited about this, have put considerable work into it already, and feel like this can really help us get back into game together.

That being said, I'm not necessarily opposed to a lot of people joining at once, I just think it best for those with the most enthusiasm to get things started and move from there.

Heh while I think that you might get the 10 people required for your phase two, you will never make it out to 0.0 in any sort of permanent fashion, unless you become the duty whores of some alliance, which is lawl.
You could maybe halfass it like all the noob empire corps and sit in silence in the useless lowsec and 0.0 at the ass end of lonetrek and say that 'were in 0.0, were balls deep in EVE now.' and then relocate a week later cause your tired of getting gangraped in the anunnen chokepoint.
Also the new EVE frontend should read:
300,000 accounts training skills, large scale battles and territory control in frame-by-frame slow-mo, the worlds most horribly fucked virtural economy, winner of the prestigious Bernie Madoff award three years running.
Now back to tooling around with the new Dominion sov stuff and seeing if they ever fixed MHA's...this may keep me satiated with the state of things for the necessary two months until I trade in my ship for a Miranda and go zapping space-niggers in STO.

nah, it'll be a while before we're ready for lo sec. and we'll definitely not be in the ass end of lonetrek. Pure Blind is my goal right now, and there are still open tunnels through there.
Maru Ka'ge is working on getting our own jump bridges built that will make this easier, and part of the reason why I see them as a good ally.
also, 35 is the magic number. Once you get to 35 members in a corp, it's much easier to recruit and get people involved. there have been studies on this. i'm going to be recruiting from in game, as well.

But we shall see... Still rather go back to DF....
You say about babysitting small numbers of people, but do you yet have a euro counterpart who can do likewise? How do you guys cope with the timezone issue normally?

I'd be willing to jump in early, since I've tried to get involved with the game before and liked it but didn't feel like joining another group of people to game with. Ironically, the time I'd have the most trouble logging in will probably be after we get started and are into Phase III, since that's when I should be attending BOLC-B/OBC unless I get screwed for a training slot. Apparently FA is one of the more backed up branches, so it might happen.
I put Phase II but I'd be game for Phase I depending on how long in between the phases and when this would start.

babysitting may be the right/wrong answer. eve is very frustrating if you hit a wall and can't find the answer. there needs to be someone around that you can at least message or send questions to that won't be bothered by it. it's the wrong word because I'm not going to try to hold people's hands the whole time, but more push them towards exploring it themselves. we all know how that typically works out though.

cool, someone can always log in for you and set your training queue.
also... like i was saying to spades last night, i can see this as happening like the poll is showing, not surprised to see Phase III and especially IV neglected. the continued recruiting from within will come from getting good results from previous phases.

By None I mean when it's the ass end of IV, I'll probably join. I have an account, somewhere, guess I can work on seeing if I can get the login info. Fuck if I remember what email account I used back then.
When did Eve come out?
Also, as people join I want honest impressions of how they feel gameplay is. If people aren't liking it, say so. I'd rather not us have people play just because others are and they just stop logging in because they feel the game is ass.
Hopefully in 2-6 months when you hit Phase IV I'll have more time personally as well to commit. That's really a large factor in my decision to look at Eve.
But if we do get into a game together, and stick with it for a bit, I'll be happy.

May 6, 2003. There have been 10 or so major expansions over that time.
this is exactly the kind of response i'm looking for. I know that people have some very legitimate concerns about the game, and this is why i'm working on doing it in phases.
you will be able to see that yes, we are making some significant progress and that there is definitely hope for a good game here from other people, not me. i'll let what happens speak for itself (encouraging it, of course).
thanks for the silver lining there :)

In the meantime, do the tutorial. Yes, it takes a while, but it's worth it.
After that, do the warrior tutorial quest line, you get a few useful items, including a better ship.
After that, get over to Torrinos. That's where we'll be staging most of our shit from.
Open up the map, click search, put in "torrinos"
either hit autopilot or do it manually.

Also, make sure you keep clone SP ahead of your current SP. Otherwise if you die horribly you will lose your gains. It's a mistake you will only make once but you will be angry as shit when it happens. I'm pretty sure my 15 year old self almost ragequit life when that happened.
Just saying for the future.

you won't need it until you get to IR, AM, and learning 4. and I'll be handing those books out.
patience, we're already 6 years behind, no need to have this all done "right now."

Mag stabs are great for upping your killing power just so you know why Mr. Moneybags is suggesting them.
Edit: Jesus christ why I do remember this useless shit? WHY?
Edit 2: You never want to put more than 3 on a ship because of the diminishing returns.
Edit 3: Oh fuck me...

I have longed for this moment! Never thought anvil would play eve lol :D
I might join phase 1 but definitely phase 2, reason being I am worried that there will be very few EU timezone people playing otherwise... If it matters to you I have played that game for maybe 1 and half year effective time pure pvp and can fly some good gallente ships, was a while since I played though so I'll have to catch up to the new ways. And yes I am kinda poor but can run the lvl 4 missions in highsec for emergency money (unless you get us a corp that gets decced that is)...
Btw I have kinda much in school atm so I'll join in a bit more than a week earliest.
