I know it's early days but it'll be nice to start rolling together while in MO. This weekend Sarah is out of town which means i get to play undisturbed for as long as i want.

I'll play with ya! My mic don't work though and my graphic card and ram is shit (I have 1.5gig ram, lol). I lag like fuck, but that hasn't stopped me from killing an occasional player out in the wild. It's unplayable in towns though, it's hard for me just to refine and craft stuff, especially with all the two hit PKers running around.

While most beta tests today are an early free trial, this is a real test. So come in and help them test, and start to learn the game.

To be fair, this is the first time I've seen a MMO use the "preorder and get beta" technique when the game isn't ready for the stress test phase. So if I paid for a client and found the current version shitty I'd probably be upset too. Of course, I was smart enough not to fall for the trap.

They did come right out and say it wasn't going to be free game time, they said what they still needed to test and that they had no idea how the client would work when this phase started.

They put huge fucking disclaimers everywhere saying what beta would be. Hell, the first part of the test didn't even promise being able to log into the game, they just wanted to test the launcher and shit.

it was so screwed up, I was looting gear by just running around and randomly hitting R. At least we were able to kill some wildlife again to make armor.

Magic was enabled, along with the stats but there are no books or whatever in game yet.

I've only been able to get some starter gear, and at some point i landed a single hit on a pig. I also got killed in the starter town, and killed some random guy in a naked fistfight.

There isn't much to the game atm. I don't know why I can't even kill pigs, but I'm guessing they have some latency bugs or something. I'll go explore a bit more today, but it looks like there aren't any mobs in the game to kill, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna mine and chop trees to craft gear in beta.

This is still phase 1 of beta.

Their main focus is keeping the server stable, getting the patcher working and fixing CTD's.

I know everyone is used to "zomg FREE TRIAL" betas, but please read about their beta process and stfu.

I expect them to release an incomplete shitty game, probably early 2010, that will fail like niggerniggerniggerniggerniggerniggerniggernigger. I bet any of you who believe otherwise also believed everything Aventurine spewed before niggerniggerniggerniggerniggerniggerniggernigger came out.

Completely agree with all of this. They're already low on funds and I can't see them pushing back the release if the game isn't ready. I hope I'm wrong.

Well the base mechanics are good. All they have to do is build on content. So unlike niggerniggerniggerniggerniggerniggerniggernigger it will atleast be worth playing eventually.

Well, I quite trying to play 5 or 6 patches ago and it sounds like game play has not improved a whole lot.

I for one hope they don't drop a giant stink pile like DFO did. Let them keep it in and mature for a while.

The latest patch actually improved the game quite a lot, everything seems to be working now so I wouldn't be suprised if the next patch had some new content.

Also: Fabernum (or whatever it's called) looks pretty sweet now.
