i got a friend whos mean like surly

hey guys,

kind of a social crisis im having and i was hoping some of you could help me out..

i got this friend known him for a few years and slowly im becoming more and more upset at the stuff he says hes always puts a negative spin on everything and talks bad about ppl (like surly,and im not being mean but he has a way of seeing things in the most possible negative way) but if someone talks bad about ppl to you its likely they talk bad about you to other ppl so anyways all this is starting to bother me i dont like ppl like that and heres where your advice comes in what would be the "friend" thing to do....confront him about it and ask why hes mean to everyone or just ignore him and not be his friend anymore?

id like to confront him but its not my business how someone acts or thinks but i dont like when they subject me to the negativety they carry around what would you do?

just stop being his friend. if you started questioning why i was mean to people i'd probably just yell at you, and i know for damn sure i wouldn't change the way i acted. so you either have to live with it, or just never talk to him again.

who gives a shit? that's the problem with being a nice person, you get put in little moral conundrums like this all the time. if you stop talking to him, that's definitely not very nice. He's going to wonder why you quit talking to him. However, if you tell him it's because he's a dick he'll just get mad at you and tell you to piss off. So remember this mantra, "Fuck it!"

Who cares? Do whatever the hell you want. If you want my advice, yes. Yes, it makes you a bad person to just not talk to your friend anymore. If it were me, I'd tell him to quit being an obnoxious little shit around me. That'd definitely be meaner, but I'd still be a good person!
