Too good to be true?

It seems like it. I risked signing up since I didn't have to divulge any financial information (yet). Got an e-mail receipt confirming I signed up with them and was told to wait for a welcome e-mail within 24 hours telling me how to point something or other to their nameserver and other stuff to do to get started. 4 days and still waiting. Tech support is fail.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them or know anything about their service. If the promise of no ads and free hosting is true I might be willing to turn a blind eye on the lack of tech support since all I'm looking for is somewhere to relocate my portfolio site. If their service is not reliable or is a sham I'll just stick with my current webhost.

Generally any free (or dirt cheap) webhost is going to have poor tech support and even poorer performance. They problem cram hundreds of accounts on each server, so it's bound to take ages to load during peak hours.

If you want cheap hosting, I've been using Site5.com for the last few years. I really like them. Good, stable, and cheap. Not perfect, but then I'm not paying for perfect. If you decide to sign up there, using this link (http://www.site5.com/in.php?id=27866) so that I can get affiliate/referral points.

Yeah, that's what I though at first. But they were boasting 24/7 tech support (which is false, as previously revealed), 99.98% uptime and all the other stuff you usually would get by paying a decent amount of money. I've never encountered any free webhost that boasts so much before, mostly their ads for services are merely exaggerations. This one could be outright false advertising.

I'll keep my options open and check out that webhost provider you mentioned.

These guys are good enough. Response takes a while and often their e-mails were in some broken unreadable html..
Used for a little over a year and moved to paid hosting.
