Are you genuinely excited or is this as sarcastic as it seems?
Psht, I wanted to get some discussion going about how gay or how entertaining the game is. Looks like I failed.
I like the Sims actually, but it looks like they aren't changing much compared to The Sims 2. I read the news about the first screenshots for The Sims 3 being released and was like "woah, it gonna look like über photo realistic" and then I clicked it and noticed it looked like The Sims 2 with Speedtree™ and my thrill was gone.
But they didn't change much from the first installment to the second one either, but those few minor changes they had made the game a ton better, so let's just see how it gonna work out.
The sarcastic undertone in my initial post was intentional so people wouldn't hesitate to call this game gay and start an argument and people bashing each other until someone would use the word "penis" and made someone else cry; but so far only you put up a single, boring answer.
I'm actually very likely going to buy this game. Go ahead and call me a fag, but many people have already done that and I just told them to sit down and try the game and they did and ended up finding it entertaining at the very least.

I enjoyed inviting the whole neighborhood over for dinner, then barricade the doors and burn the house down.

I like pointless games like this, but I don't think the Sims ever really captured my attention for long. It's fun to build houses and dick around with people living in them, but I think in one of these installments they really need to expand what you can do in the game to include equipping your sims with weaponry and sending them off to war or something. The Sims 4: Jagged Alliance or something.

They should really make another SimAnt or Populous. Those were way better sims IMO.

I'm with spades. I managed to get my sim in a relationship with some chick, then got the chick to have an afair. Then to punish the girl, i invited her lover over and made a 2x2 wall around them and left them there to die.
Almost Shakespearean, wouldn't you say?

Good ole SimAnt... Countless hours of dominating the red ants and taking over the human's kitchen.
The only thing I liked about the Sims were the building and furnishing. I bloody hate the people living in them. If they were more like SimAnt where you could go and ravage your neighbours then I think it'd be more fun to spend more effort on the people themselves.

As far as I understand it it eventually seems to be possible in The Sims 3 to just leave your house by foot and wander around through the neighbourhood. I'm dreaming of going from house to house, ringing the bells and when the people who live there open the door I gonna insult them and slap them in the face and kick their garden gnomes.

SimIsle was another one I liked, I never managed to complete all the island missions as even just one Island kept me hooked for pretty long.

Spore > This
Whenever I played the sims I always had the vibrating heart shaped bed so at least I can get laid in game....

So why do they feel the need to make a third game that will probably be devoid of all the random shit that accumulates within the Sims2 after you install all those goddamn expansions?
They should at least give Sims firearms and introduce at least some factors of violence, they can even base this off of one of their favored slider bars, the far left would be a simtopia wherein there is no violence of any sort really, and the far right is 'Road Warrior' land, complete with a wandering mohawk'd assless chaps beserker that headbuts the fuck out of people and screams seemingly random shit.
I'd buy that game....
But seriously since Spore is susposed to release first it it will probably satiate anyone's 'need' to manufacture social situations ranging from a micro to macro scale.

I predict that Spore will suck.
It will. I will just *cough*buy*cough* it for a quick modelling fun and to make fucked up creatures. Then all the fun will be drained.
Kinda like black & white. Make an evil pet, destroy your village(rs). Quit.

My sister had the Sims when we were younger, just the plain old V1. I would make a castle and kill everyone in her neighborhood and stack their urns on my parapets as a warning to all who would enter the keep of Lord Fart.
Then I made a room full of toilets by the side of the road and intentionally didn't pay my taxes so that the tax collector would come and confiscate all the toilets. Then I sold the door to the little building with the toilets in it so that he he would be trapped. Within a couple days he was begging for a toilet. I showed him.
Then I seduced a lady from the neighborhood just to have a baby so that I could ignore it and have the DYPHUS lady come. Once the wife and DYPHUS lady were in the baby room I sold the door and had the wife play with fireworks inside so that all three of them burned alive.
I was a creative kid.

I think SimAnt was my first game. It was awesome, still have my old CD after all these years. I never figured out how to transfer to a new colony though.
I still don't know how.

I loved that I could squirt pheromones in SimAnt. I tried that in real life when I'm in trouble, but no one ever comes to my aid.
